Kumasi Readies for Tech in Ghana as Ethicoin Puts River Cleanup on the Blockchain
NEW YORK — As Kumasi gets ready to host Tech in Ghana, Ethicoin (ETHIC+) on RichX Chain is drawing notice for reserving 100 billion tokens to restore the Pra, Ankobra and Birim river basins.
Kumasi, the historic Asante city, is preparing to host Tech in Ghana, and the event arrives as blockchain projects look for ways to connect digital finance with real problems on the ground. One of them is Ethicoin (ETHIC+), a gold-indexed token on RichX Chain that has tied part of its supply directly to Ghana's rivers.
Culture and code in one city
The project frames the moment as a meeting point between Asante cultural leadership under His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and sovereign blockchain engineering. Its view is that Ghana can take a leading role in finance that is built around ethics as well as technology.
The damage galamsey has done
Unlicensed small-scale mining, called galamsey locally, has spread across the Ashanti, Western and Eastern regions. The result has been mercury contamination and heavy sediment in the Pra, Ankobra and Birim basins.
Ethicoin responds by setting aside 10% of its fixed one-trillion supply, 100,000,000,000 ETHIC+, for river remediation, water treatment and land restoration in Ghana.
How the token is built
ETHIC+ is an RXC-20 contract deployed natively at 0x7023Bb290be415b05491bBBaa45f4D15e4407E46. It uses 9 decimals and supports EIP-2612 gasless permits. The full 1,000,000,000,000 supply was created once at launch, and the contract contains neither a mint function nor a self-destruct function.
RichX Chain runs QBFT Proof of Authority consensus and settles blocks with immediate finality every 5 seconds. Transfers carry a 0% fee, so the recipient gets the full amount sent.
A transparent gold link
The token's value reference follows an on-chain Gold Index. Grams per token equal 90,000,000,000 divided by circulating supply, and the 100 billion ETHIC+ remediation reserve is permanently left out of that circulating figure. Indexed value is grams per token divided by 31.1034768, multiplied by live XAU/USD spot gold. Holders can burn tokens, which raises the reference for every token that remains.
Safeguards and the wider network
Control is divided between separate Owner and Guardian keys, with a 48-hour timelock and a cap of 0.1%, or 1,000,000,000 ETHIC+, on any single transaction. The project says this gives African innovators, institutions and citizens an open record that anyone can follow in real time on RichXScan.
Gas on the network is paid in RichX Coin (RICHX), which has a 1 billion genesis supply and a minimum fee of 0.000021 RICHX per transfer at 1 gwei. The chain also carries Bitcoin RXC (RBTX), a Keccak-256 Proof-of-Work token with a 21 million cap, zero premine and a 5 RBTX block reward, mineable from smartphones and browsers. For reference, the deployment record cited by the project lists Chain ID #20260618, the ETHIC+ contract 0x7023Bb290be415b05491bBBaa45f4D15e4407E46, block 0xaa682 and transaction 0xc9ac198b8df8fbea20260618.
